Lessons from the Upper Room - Part 1

I was recently reflecting on a previous teaching series given in our fellowship, which I called “Who Do You Say I Am”. A question which Jesus asks of us all. The series is constructed around the response of Jesus to Peter’s answer and to his confession of Him as the Christ when Jesus replies, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it”. It is from this response we understand that the church is not, nor has ever been built upon a man, not on Peter… but upon the believer’s confession of J

Birds of the Air - Part 2

In the first part of our current series “The Birds of the Air”, we considered and compared two species of bird, the eagle and the sparrow. Similarly, in this, the second part of the series, we shall consider and compare a further two species… this time, the raven and the dove, both of which were sent out of the ark by Noah. Those huge birds made a lasting impression on me, after all we don’t get to see anything quite like them where I live. In fact, so great was the impression they made, that I don’t recall seeing any other species during my visit. I know there were many other birds there. I recall the great sense of peace on the stretch of the bridg

In the concluding part of our series “Sweeter Than Honey” (Sunday 7th June 2020), having previously considered the accounts of two characters found in the Book of Judges, Deborah the prophetess and Samson the Nazarite, we move to 1 Samuel 14. In this chapter we find the account of Jonathan, son of Saul, and his armourbearer, who together attack the Philistine garrison whilst Saul and some 600 Israelite men are hiding in a cave. The Lord is with Jonathan and He delivers the Philistine camp into his hands. Saul however, ever the opportunist, seeing the confusion in the Philistine camp orders his men into the fray and keen to enforce his victory and motivate his men to finish the work undertake
